Why MIFs GIFts?
There’s a story behind our name, and it starts with a very special woman.
MIFs GIFts was named in honor of Peter’s mom and our kids’ grandma. Because she lived in Florida, she became affectionately known in our family as MIF (Mom in Florida) and GIF (Grandma in Florida). Put them together, and you get MIFs GIFts.
She was an eccentric, wonderfully unique woman who inspired the people around her to simply be themselves. She wasn’t perfect, but hey, who is? What mattered was that she lived life as herself and encouraged others to do the same. Naming our business after her felt like the perfect way to keep a little piece of that spirit with us.
Our creative journey has changed quite a bit since we started in 2021. In the beginning, MIFs GIFts focused primarily on teacher shirts and gifts. We still occasionally make a T-shirt, but somewhere along the way, paper stole our hearts.
Today, our specialty is creating layered paper shadowboxes and meaningful gifts. Each design is built layer by layer, turning simple sheets of paper into something with depth, dimension, and a story. Our collections celebrate hometowns and states, schools and graduations, military service, sports, new babies, weddings, holidays, and those everyday moments worth remembering. We also love adding personalized details that make each piece uniquely yours.
In a way, our business has come full circle. It began with a woman who taught us that being uniquely yourself was something worth celebrating. Now, we create keepsakes that celebrate the unique people, places, and moments in our customers’ lives.
